Gillian asks:

Hi, I’ve been looking at getting an RC Car or Truck and have narrowed down the search to the Traxxas 1/10 Bandit RC Buggy, The Traxxas 1/16 E-Revo 4WD Brushless Monster Truck VXL, OR the Traxxas 1/16 E-Revo Brushed…. Which one of these would best help a new guy to this sport like me? and also, of the two trucks, Which would be better? The Brushed or brushless. I still have not fully understood the difference between the two different motors..

Thank You so much in advance for your help!!

Anything Traxxas is a great choice.

I would suggest the 1/10 because it’s bigger and that makes it easier to work on, also the 2 wheel drive aspect will make it easier to learn about the mechanics of RC and not get overwhelmed by the 4×4 system and end up giving up on the RC hobby.

I always suggest the Traxxas Slash for beginners… it’s tough , fast and a LOT of fun.

Yep, Traxxas makes good rc cars for both experts and beginers of this hobby…I recomend the 1/10 scale because it’s bigger and easier to work on and the brushless system because it’s better…the 4WD system isn’t complicated at all not even for beginers and it behaves better on 4WD…it’s got more stability in the corners than 2WD which tend to go into a drift…hope this helps you make a decision !

as stated traxxas is well known. which will make it easier to get parts. i would go with a 1/10 scale. not to big but not so small either. also i would go with a brushless system myself because they are much faster. (i personally like nitro better).

it goes faster however not that hard to get used to in my opinion. that part that would be hardest is just maintaining it. i never really had a nice rc car at all and my first was a nitro. after a couple min or driving was used to it.

i would also try to get a 2.4ghz control for it. and a failsafe. 2.4ghz will pretty much let you run the car at a far distance that you will not even need to.

Traxxas is very well known, especially in beginner R/C’s they tailor to it and make upgrades so that you can stp it up as you are ready at your own pace. I started with redcat, many people like to bash the poor thing pointing out its made overseas, failing to understand that 90% of al r/c cars and their parts these days are imported! so, that being said, for the price you get ALOT of upgrades for the base starter r/c Nitro I believe too is th way to go, alot more fun, less downtime, faster, etc. If you look at the 1/10 scale buggies like the shockwave or tornado you can get out RTR radio an all, for between 120-160$ to your door running in 30 min or less. with an aluminum chassis, shock towers, and other upgrades depending on the one you choose, its a good deal weather your just starting out or seasoned r/c hobiest. Not to mention they run at speeds in excess of 50+MPH. They engine replacement and parts warranties are comparable to other manufactures. Which is something i suggest you evaluate with ANY brand you are seriously considering to buy. Happy shopping. have fun with your new rc buggy… http://www.racewayhobbiez.com
