Traxxas Stampede VXL RC Truck: Sterling Highschool
Keely asks:
Got to take out the new truck today for some speed tests and some general bashing around. I (or should I say my friend) did damage a part, but it didn’t break. Will definetly need replacing though. I’ve yet to open up this truck fully as it’s a speed demon and I haven’t been to a big enough paved area… and its still the stock settings. Running Zippy 3S 2100mah Lipos. The truck is a ton of fun and it’s less stressful than flying so I think I’m hooked.

@mrlagit25 It depends on what you want to do with it. What do you want to do with an RC truck?

@mrlagit25 you must buy a rustler vxl or an e-revo or bandit vxl

@mrlagit25 I have only traxxas cars. I would recommend the traxxas slash 4×4 or the traxxas slash 2wd. If you are looking for more of a basher type car go with the traxxas E-Maxx. I hope this helps.

@mrlagit25 if you’re looking for a recomendation for something affordable that’s ready to run out of the box you should really look into a traxxas stampede or rustler. both will do about 35 mph and are easy to repair when things go bad.
if you have a pep boys near you you can pick up either one for $199. plus tax (comes with everything you need but the AA batterys for the controller) and if you sign up for the pep boys rewards you get a $10. gift certificate for every $200. you spend.

@mrlagit25 I honestly don’t feel comfortable answering that question because RC flying is more of my expertise than trucks. From what I’ve learned, Traxxas makes a great product and the replacement parts or upgrades are easy to get and plentiful. This truck is fast as hell and it’s fun! However, it does wheelie alot if you’re not smooth on the throttle so for that reason you may want to get a Rustler or something. I’m no expert sorry if it was a plane question, I’d feel better answering.

@j6sj7 HA! That’s funny man. What year did you graduate? I got a lot of friends that went there. Even though I grew up a mile from the school I would have went to Triton but unfortunately I did not go to public school.

Ur truck hauls around pretty good…(At least faster than I did, jogging around that same track in P.E. class back in the day).

@locksmack Thanks for the heads up. I don’t have them in front of me but I think the Lipos are rated 30-45C. I thought this was more than enough but I don’t profess to be a wizard at power plants either. I think these batteries are done now anyway. I had the truck out the other day with these batts. fully charged. It would only run for a bit, not nearly as long as it used to, and would stop…low voltage protection? I may sell it. Too busy to even drive it.

I’d be wary using those batteries with the Stampede mate, even if it is a 30C battery, it would only be pushing 60 amps….chances are its more like 20C and pushing 40 amps. That truck needs a bit more than that, 70+. Be careful you dont puff your battery.

what did your friend break because stampedes r tough i have one
January 11th, 2011 at 12:08 pm
Wow what an *******. I don’t miss those highschool or those teachers. I’m 30, this is just a local highschool. If a teacher had stepped on my truck I would have punched him in the face. That being said, never been bothered here and I fly my planes here too.
January 12th, 2011 at 4:43 am
I once drove my stampede on a school track, and the teacher got in front of the truck, and stepped on it.

January 16th, 2011 at 8:16 pm
yeah, ive always wanted to drive my rc’s on my school track but its way to crowded so everyone ends up getting pissed off.

Thanks man! I buy all my batteries from Hobbycity now. No reason to pay more, never had a problem as far as quality. I use them in my planes too. The thing is fast as hell. You really need a big place to open it up. As far as driving, I’m really green but I’m used to flying so I’m delicate with the sticks. It’s a ton of fun. Thanks again.
