Keri asks:
This is a bit of a follow up from the previous movie; “Starting RC cars:Ofna LX Pro V Schumacher Rascal”. I’ve added a roto start and fiddled with the carb. It’s still not easy but it does start without me getting an arm strain. I should have added a dash of fuel into the carb!

how do you build the roto start

@wonderfulcat if the spring on the clutch shoes was broken, the car would move when he would try to start the car, at least that’s what my s-maxx 3.3 does when the clutch spring is broken, you also shouldn’t be able to press on the breaks because that locks the spur gear therefore locking the clutch bell, therefore locking the motor.

@rossyfreeskiers must be the the clutch and the spring in the clutch that is so bad that the clutch wont go back in “netrual” if u can call it a manual gearbox, buy a new clutch or springs for the clucth, and the problem should be gone. and make sure u not put some oil where the clutch is. if u get somthing in there u will drive and hour and the clutch is gone again and u have to buy a new. cause the oil does it slippy in there and make the clutch just spin in there, hope i helped !

@IbanezSkull hello did it over rev when running in
January 2nd, 2011 at 4:21 pm
@HPISAVAGEX45 it may be the clutch shoes

@rossyfreeskiers just turn the low-speed needle. (one under the carb that moves the opening). anti-clockwise and it will lower the idle and it wil stop cos i had the same problem

Hi, I had this problem. With me the small pin bearings in the clutch justs needed oiling. They were bone dry. Just drop some oil down them or take the clutch bell of and oil them. (Oil or grease works). After that it was fine. I always frop some oil down where the bearings are now in the cluctch. Lets it run freely.

hi let me ask if the weather change to hot summer. how wood i go by tuneing the engine all over again. shound i tune it untill no good out of engine or do i make a 8th of a turn once. how can you tell if you need tuneing in the frist place basc on wether?

Sounds like the centrifugal clutch is staying engaged. Between the engine and gearbox there is a clutch. This consists of an outer drum and inside are 3 shoes that sit on the drive shaft of the engine. When the engine is reved the shoes spin outwards and engage with the drum and turn the wheels. Your engine is either spinning to fast (adjust carb) or the shoes are stuck to the drum. You need to take apart the clutch to check what’s wrong. It could be dirty, rusty or the springs could be broken.

hi, ive got a schumacher riot which is very similar to the rascal. can somebody help me, i can get it started but when you pull the cord the whells turn so as soon as i put it on the ground the engine cuts out, it is almost like it is staying in gear, i dont know what to do, it will rev but as soon as the wheels stop it cuts out because the whells are connected to the engine and cannot move freely so when the wheels stop, the engine stops! please help someone!

would u recomend a Schumacher Rascal RC Truck or was it just ure first rc car
January 11th, 2011 at 2:48 pm
the best thing to do mate is buy some better fuel, that fuel ur using is model technics isnt it? its rubbish mate, wrecks your engine, i use optifuel, very good stuff. optifuel at 20% is amazing for my schumacher
January 13th, 2011 at 12:47 pm
noo never pour fuel straight into the carb. it floods it, which causes major engine damage due to high compression
January 15th, 2011 at 12:39 am
try a little hold of the trottle while trying to start it mate, mine is a pain to start, but holding the throttle very slightly helps.

i recently bought a schumacher rascal 2 and i ran it in fine… tuned it properly and starts with a few pulls even with a cold engine
January 18th, 2011 at 9:58 pm
just stick to pull start

If you have the instructions, put all the screws to the recomended sttings (I can’t remeber them off hand). Make sure fule has got to the engine (block exhaust and turn over engine). Put on glow stick and turn over engine. If it won’t start try priming the engine. Remove filter and ****** fuel into carb. Turn over engine with glow stick attatched. If it still dosn’t start try a hotter plug (OS A3 is good).

ive put a roto start on mine but mine wont start either please help
January 22nd, 2011 at 9:11 pm
Probably running too rich. As you open the throttle too much fuel enters the combustion chamber and floods the engine. Try screwing in the high speed ***** (the big one). Good luck!
